Pursuing a doctoral degree while simultaneously working can be a challenge. Not only do you have to find a school located nearby, but then there’s the task of balancing your work and education schedule, as well as your commitments to family. That’s where online degrees can make education accessible. Rather than worrying about traveling to campus multiple times per week, you can log in and access your coursework from the comfort of your couch.
The 50 Top Online Post-Graduate Schools West Coast 2020 is leading the way when it comes to online education. If you’re looking to earn a doctoral degree, then you may want to consider enrolling at one of these 50 schools.
FINDING AN ONLINE POST-GRADUATE SCHOOL
You’ll find plenty of variety in these online post-graduate schools, including different degrees, different online learning platforms, and different overall costs of education. Before you begin evaluating the schools and settle on that perfect school for your needs, keep in mind that you may not be able to enroll at every school on this list, depending on the state in which you live. It’s important to realize that any institution offering distance education needs to be authorized in the states where students who receive financial aid are enrolled. If you’re interested in taking an online program from an institution in a state other than the state you live in, you should contact the institution to make sure that they offer online enrollment in your state.
These online post-graduate schools offer a variety of programs and degrees. Some schools offer only online learning, while others are traditional schools that also offer online degrees and courses. You’ll find that many of the degrees can be completed entirely online without any need to ever go to campus, while others may incorporate occasional on-campus intensives in more of a hybrid model. Some schools offer asynchronous courses, where you can log in at any time to work on your assignments, and others follow a more structured model with specific login times to facilitate real-time interaction between students and faculty. When evaluating which school is right for you, be sure to explore the pacing options for online learning. Some schools allow you to study full-time or part-time, and other programs offer accelerated options so that you can earn your degree faster (and even save money, in some cases). Ultimately, the school that’s right for you will depend on your life, your schedule, and what you need in an online program.
RANKING THE 50 TOP ONLINE POST-GRADUATE SCHOOLS ON THE WEST COAST
While you’re on your way to earning your Ph.D. or Doctorate within your field, the editors at Online PhD Programs are already practicing doctors of their craft: ranking the best online Ph.D. programs. To be featured on our annual rankings online doctorates must satisfy four coinciding requirements: accreditation, research and scholarship doctorate certification, NSF recognition, and institutional association with peer-reviewed academia.
Each degree is then ranked using the information provided – primarily – through the National Center for Education Statistics to find which degrees are available in individual states. The first round of scoring for this particular ranking is scored using metadata provided by Forbes, U.S. News & World Report, and Money. The second round of scoring is dependant on data collected through a series of weighted categories to represent seven crucial aspects of what makes an online doctorate valuable to future students. Online program quality and presence are joined by industry salaries, student reviews, degree exclusivity, costs, and completion rates to determine the best online doctorates available. For a comprehensive breakdown of how we categorize and source data, please visit our methodology page.
